Built as a Howard reform prison in 1823, this impressive building is the only existing example of its kind in Scotland. The museum has a display of items relating to 19th century prison life and collections relating to the history of the Royal Burgh of Jedburgh.
This is an impressive building with fine views across the town. Featured recently on the television programme ‘Most Haunted’, the Jail is a popular venue for overnight organised visits. It is also a licensed wedding and civil ceremony venue. There is a children’s activity area, audio tour, children’s guide and audio-visual display on the ground floor for wheelchair users.
